FENCE REPAIR
If you are considering a fence repair, some projects are more difficult than others. Replacing a few pickets may not be that difficult they just take some time and some handyman skills. If you have a gate that you have to drag across the yard and it’s hanging on by a few rusted screws, that’s another story. Broken posts and leaning fences are also some not so easy to fix fence repairs. A broken fence not only detracts from the appearance of your property but it also has an impact on security and animals if you have them. Instead of blocking the holes with flowerpots and lawn chairs, give us a call for your fence and GATE REPAIR. We repair broken gates, leaning fences, broken fence posts, and more. We are happy to take a look at your project to offer you the best possible options.

Sometimes REPAIRING A WOODEN FENCE can be like opening Pandora's box. Sometimes we need to replace sections of a fence and replace old nonfunctioning gates with new steel framed gates that open and close as intended and will last a lifetime. Other times we can replace a fence rail and re-use some pickets if you don’t want to replace them all. If we are only working on one eight for section or two eight foot sections, the cost of new materials is not is not nearly as expensive as you might think. No two fence repair projects are alike and the age and condition of the fence will usually determine the direction of repairs. Many times when a fence is old it is best to simply replace sections or the entire fence. If your neighbor has replaced one side of your fence it’s likely we can match the other side or back section of your fence, to the neighbors.

GATE REPAIR
Many if not most gates in the DFW area are beyond repair. If you have a fence that is say less than ten years old, there is a possibility of doing some repairs to get your gate functioning again. If the posts are loose or leaning it’s likely time for a replacement. We like to build our new fences and replace old gates with steel framed gates. A steel framed gate requires steel fence posts. This gives you a completely steel structure from the ground to the posts to the hinges to the frame to the latch. With a steel framed gate you will have a gate that opens and closes as intended for a very long time. These gates require very little adjustment over time and do not sag.

FENCE POST REPAIR
Most fence post repairs are going to involve a broken wood post, or a loose wood or steel post. Broken wood posts can sometimes be temporarily repaired with various types of braces which are available at the big box home improvement stores. Other times a post may be able to be dug up, the concrete demolished, and re-poured. Most wood posts will have to be replaced. If you don’t want to disassemble the fence you will need to dig up the concrete and jackhammer it until it is completely removed. Once the concrete is removed the fence can be leveled with the post still in place in the hole and the concrete re-poured.

LEANING FENCE REPAIR
A leaning fence is probably not something most people want to do on their own as it simply requires a lot of work. If you have an old fence and it’s leaning so much that you need to do something, it probably time to replace the fence or at least that section. If you have a newer fence and it’s leaning for whatever reason, the fence can probably be salvaged. The work involved will require digging up the old posts, plumbing the fence, and repouring the concrete. This is the short version as some of the posts may have to dug up by hand and some if not all may have to be jackhammered and the old concrete removed.

FENCE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT
The general rule of thumb is that if 20% or more of the fence needs to be repaired then it’s time to replace the fence. This may be the contractors rule of thumb but it’s not the contractors fence or budget. Sometimes a gate replacement and some various repairs can extend the life of the fence a little longer for the purpose of selling or whatever. The older the fence the more difficult it gets to do repairs as while you’re removing in piece, another piece crumbles right next to it and behind it. Old fences are definitely a can of worms. A good fence contractor can fix anything that has to do with your fence it’s just a matter of what is the current damage and what is the collateral damage in removing and replacing parts.
